Hi Outline team Watch the video for Treasure: https://vimeo.com/225402661. Download/Vinyl: https://igg.me/at/TornSail/x/2710025. Best wishes Nicola Beswick PR for TornSail nicolabeswick@gmail.com Torn Sail's debut album, This Short Sweet Life was released 1st December on Cwm Saerbren Records – DL/Vinyl Available at www.tornsail.com and Indiegogo And at all good record stores like Rough Trade This Short Sweet Life is the debut album by Nottingham's Torn Sail. Eight years in the making, it's the fourth album written and produced by Huw Costin. The band brings together members of Spiritualized, The Selecter, Bent, and Soulsavers, with contributions from Mark Lanegan and BJ Smith (Smith & Mudd). The album features a new mix of Birds, and the original full length version of Treasure. Birds and Treasure feature alongside four more tracks: Leave This World Behind, Self-Medication, Gains On Gains, and Ricochets (featuring Mark Lanegan & E.R. Thorpe). "TORN SAIL’s music is so utterly timeless that it could have been released any time since the mid 1960s, calling upon the likes of Tim Buckley, The Moody Blues and David Crosby, more recent acts like Verve(before they became The Verve), Sun Kil Moon and Talk Talk, as well as enduring influences such as Joni Mitchell, Lucinda Williams and Pink Floyd , it wears its heart on its sleeve unashamedly..." Wyndham Wallace (Uncut Magazine) ''A Masterpiece'' Mark Lanegan Two of the tracks on this album - Birds and Treasure have seen a 12'' release on the highly respected Claremont 56 label. Birds sold out quickly as did the 12'' of remixes released shortly afterwards, both 12's are still highly sought after: “What an incredible track, it’s right up there with the best of John Martyn or CSN; Birds starts out as an achingly beautiful acoustic meander and quickly develops into a ‘soaring over canyons’, even Laurel Canyon’esque classic.” (Another Night On Earth) “The sound of Neu! hanging out in Laurel Canyon…Lofty music for high times.” (Halcyon.com) Tummy Touch will be releasing a Tim Love Lee mix of Treasure on 12'' in February 2018, along with a remix by Tiago. Andre Lodemann will be releasing a mix of Treasure on Best Works Records in 2018. Costin has been writing & producing music across four decades, starting with thrash metal cassettes in the 80s with the band that became Earth The Californian Love Dream: A-listed on 6 Music, recorded for John Peel: "...full on stuff...this is the antithesis of Britain's fad for polite stadium rock..." (The Sunday Times). He went on to produce a Christmas single – Full Moon at Christmas time (2007): “More like a Ted Hughes poem (see The Warm and The Cold) than a song by a modern day artist” (Bandidge.com), and the solo albums – Regrets (2009): “It’s like the third Big Star album mixed with the Stone Roses… It’ll make you cry.” (NME Yearbook Top 10), and Something/Nothing (2013) “…a dizzying swirl of grandiose chamber pop, tragi-comic folk and doom balladry.” (Uncut - *******). Most recently he released the Nutshell EP as Huw Costin/Torn Sail 2, (2017) - “A masterclass in songwriting craftsmanship...Huw Costin may no longer front a rock band but he still knows how to get heavy” (Left Lion). As the years pass and the whole 'making it' rock-star dream fades into meaninglessness the art of making art and making a record becomes so much more precious and revealing, and pointless and valuable. This record is about everyday life. Completely personal – both fantastic and mundane. It's my best work, recorded by a truly great once-in-a-lifetime band. The rain showers across the sky through my window: Cold, wet, grey and beautiful. I've got songs about that for you.
