When you first heard about the Dex Factor – what did you feel your chances were of actually winning it?
The first time I heard about it was about a year ago in Outline. The funny thing was at that point I wasn’t eighteen yet, and then I kinda forgot about it again. Then a few months later I saw a poster that said you were still looking for entrants so I went for it. I didn’t expect to win it whatsoever, but I thought I might as well have a go ‘cause it’ll give me a chance to get a set out – just as a bit of fun really.
DJ Oblivion – where did this name come from?
After a visit to Alton Towers - nah not really, haha. It was about three or four years ago and I was just sitting, trying to come up with a name and it just came to me. It sounded right, so that was pretty much that. I tested it out on my mates and they all liked it…
Tell me about the defining point in your life when you decided DJing was the path for you?
The first time I really decided that I wanted to follow this as a career was after one of the first times I’d played out, which was at a pub near Hemsby. Everyone was dancing to my set and it was just such an amazing feeling, that i thought ‘I just want to keep doing this’. I used to play the guitar before I ever got into DJing but there was a point where I just got sick of it and thought the whole idea of decks looked a lot more interesting so I thought I’d give it a go.
