21 and the World's Your Oyster.
Hit the magic age of 21 and the world is your oyster. Some folk graduate, others are flying their parents' nest and if you've got your eyes wide open, there's new experiences out there for the taking...
Celebrating their own 21-year milestone, speciality seafood restaurant Loch Fyne, of St Giles Street, Norwich is offering 21 year olds a taste of the good life, with an invitation to come in and enjoy a free oyster from tomorrow... (Saturday 19th Nov).
In just the last two weeks, popular cookery programmes, Masterchef: the Professionals and Jamie's Great Britain have highlighted the versatility of the sea's hidden treasure, the oyster, with Jamie pointing out that oysters were never meant just for the elite.
Oysters are for everybody, but as Liz Williams, MD of the Loch Fyne Group knows, it takes some time for some people to realise they're perfect for their palate. She says, “Not many young people have tried oysters by the time they turn 21 and many assume they won’t like them. As we share an important birthday, we’d like to personally introduce them to the delicacy; so that the first oyster they sample is one of the very best.”
Liz Williams wants to give young people ‘coming of age’ the opportunity to taste their first oyster at one of its 42 Loch Fyne restaurants across the country. Loch Fyne, on the west coast of Scotland where the restaurant originates, is internationally renowned for its irresistible oysters which are in demand all over the world, with more than two million being harvested in its fresh waters every year.
The business started as small roadside stall on the banks of the loch, with the first restaurant south of the border being launched 21 years ago. Loch Fyne has maintained a fantastic reputation over the years, with its consistently delicious, sustainably sourced fresh fish, seafood and shellfish.
Loch Fyne customers aged 21 will be entitled to a free oyster and will be required to show proof of age. The offer will run for one week from Saturday 19th November. Some conditions apply - please refer to www.lochfyne-restaurants.com.
