The Brownies confirmed for NAC!

In a late addition to an already outstanding February line-up at the Norwich Arts Centre, The Brownies have been confirmed to play on Friday 3rd February, with Sylver Tongue in support.

Having just released the loudest and thickest beast to be birthed from the East, the mighty ‘Finger’ EP (released last September), The Brownies are back at their favourite venue in their hometown of Norwich. They rarely play at all since their drummer started doing great things with his other band Dinosaur Pile-Up, BUT you lucky people get a one-off show this February.

“The tag ‘pop punk’ for one generation at least will always conjure up images of Blink 182 and Sum 41, yet the type of pop punk that The Brownies juggle up is far removed from this. It’s shouty-faced pop punk that’s pocketed Riot Grrrl’s bite, and been trapped under an avalanche of glowing pop hooks on the escape. Some bands would bite off their spouses’ fingers to have one song as good as ‘Cougar’; The Brownies deliver an energetic entire set’s worth. Norwich may have given us Kaito and Bearsuit, but that city has now given us another batch of delightful ear candy which those missing Be Your Own Pet should get extremely excited about.” - Artrocker Magazine.

Sylver Tongue was born from the Kandinsky-addled mind of a ‘Purple Rain’ obsessed girl. Inspired by 70s sci-fi movies, psychedelic pop and the prowling grooves of Grace Jones and her warm leatherette, Sylver’s songs were hammered out on an old battered Juno and a shiny metal computer from the comfort of her underground cave.

The wounded songs of love and heartache found their way to producer James Rutledge (Post War Years/Everything Everything/Fever Ray) who transformed them into pulsating torch songs floating into space and a record is due to be released 2012.
