Underground and All Over Ground

UNDERGROUND AND ALL OVER GROUND

In true form for Norwich Arts Centre, their October calendar covers much earthly ground, and still manages to take a peek at the denizens of activity on the underground theme. They bring you Ghanaian sounds from Atongo Zimba on Thurs 6th Oct, described by Mondomix Magazine as “Beautiful, inspiring music”. Atongo Zimba was born in the savannahs of northern Ghana. His grandfather taught him how to play the koliko or molo – a two stringed calabash lute - at a very young age. He now brings music from his previous three European releases and brand new CD, ‘Sankuune’ via Holland - where his record label is based - which marks a return to Atongo’s acoustic roots.

Going underground, NAC welcomes The Covert Club on Fri 21st Oct presented by Headless Entertainment and Hocus Pocus Theatre. The organisers say “Think of entering an underground world of new-found satire cabaret and a new social movement. Think of a young Marlene Dietrich performing her first few gigs in a basement bar.” Featuring live music, new performance, cocktails and good company. Everyone’s invited… or are they?
