 Layloui’s Cookies

When Outline got in touch and asked us if we would like to review Layloui’s Cookies, who were we to argue!

The brains and talent behind @laylouiscookies is Layla who is originally from Cyprus. She’s a primary school teacher by day, and by night a keen baker. Layla has taken a secret cookie recipe that has been handed down by generations of her family and elevated it by topping each cookie with a delicious chuck of something wonderful.

Before we arranged for our box to be delivered, we had a really tough decision to make – which of the delicious flavour combinations would we choose? At the time of writing this, the flavours on offer included milk chocolate chip, Oreo stuffed and chocolate orange, but we couldn’t quite decide so went for a mixed box of 6.

And then we waited for our delivery….

The cookies were hand delivered in a ribbon-wrapped box that had a nice cookie smell about it.

It only took us a few seconds to wreck the lovely packaging and get to the goodies - 6 cookie-shaped wonders!

We did smile at the storage instructions on the enclosed card picture, saying to ‘store the cookies in an airtight container and consume within 2-4 days’, as if they were going to last that long!

Each soft, chewie, delicious cookie had a chuck of the named chocolate on top just for an extra indulgent hit of goodness. Ours lasted a total of 24 hours, which I think may be a new personal best in restraint. We could have eaten them all in one sitting.

We originally thought that £10 for a box of 6 (1 flavour) and £12 for a box of 6 (mixed flavours), was a little expensive, but then when you factor in the quality of the product, packaging, delivery and sense of satisfaction – they were worth it!

These cookies would make a fantastic gift for someone or a really nice treat for yourself.

As with our last review with Outline Magazine, we did pay for our cookies. We both decided within this current climate and with lockdown 2.0 it’s the right thing to do, especially for an independent business.
