Honest Kitchen is a new addition to this fine city and people need to hear about it. It was set up a few weeks into lockdown to provide a delivery service of nutritious, freshly made lunches for those still working in offices and those who needed a pick me up at home. The food was designed to nourish the body and the soul.
As well as offering 20% off as a ‘thank you’ to our NHS heroes (something we are in big support of!!), they use local produce where possible and collaborate with other local independent businesses. The next step for these guys is to have pop ups around Norwich, selling food from a bike and a subscription service for those heading back to work.
You can order before 5:00pm 7 days a week to have food delivered between 8:30am and 12:30pm… and it looks amazing. We actually saved it to have for dinner as Tyler is back to work and it was still just as fresh by then. For our main course, Tyler had ‘The Grand Bazaar’ (£6.95) and I had ‘Spring’ (£6.95) both were really really fresh, looked amazing and tasted great. I didn’t even have to ask for no carbs, often vegan meals are full of them but this time everything was a vegetable.
I am also a HUGE fan of Kombucha – its my favorite drink but until now I was yet to find one that lived up to my local Hackney Kombucha from London. We had two Equinox Raspberry and Elderflower Kombucha (£3.00 each), which were amazing. Next time I order from Honest Kitchen I will be stocking up on more of these for sure.
For dessert we had a Mini Banana Loaf Cake (£2.50) and a Lemon and Poppyseed cake (£2.50) not only do these look so fucking cute, but they also taste great. Worth the extra calories – its lockdown so who is counting anyway?
Overall I would say give these guys a try at a solid 9/10. The food was fresh, tasty, local and looked amazing another 9/10. We are all about sustainability, local sourcing, supporting small businesses and of course giving an extra hand to the NHS so for that we have to give them at 10/10.
They will have a new website up and running in a couple of weeks (from July 02, 2020) but for now the best way to get in contact is via their Instagram - @honestkitchen.norwich – get your orders in ASAP!
