Lower Than Atlantis

You know that summer is on the way back to our fine city when you have to join a queue for the LCR well past the Congregation Hall. That’s some wait, especially half an hour before the doors even open. The weight of waiting in the cold was greatly weighted down by the option to head to the closest SU bar to sit in the warmth with a cheap beer.

Once our cheap beers had been successfully slurped and our bodies returned to room temperature, we headed back round to the LCR entrance and strolled straight in. Unfortunately we missed the first band ROAM, although heard they were good. Hands Like Houses, the second band of the night visually looked like the whole history of popular music - flame-haired-head-banging Quagmire on lead guitar, Twin Atlantic’s lead singer Chad Smith on drums, hippie John Lennon-alike on bass and a Woodstock hippie on second guitar. I guess everyone interpreted the Dress Code: Rock email slightly differently!

Then the magic started. Young Guns owned the stage, and their front man was on fire. If you wanna rock, take note all other bands - this is how you do it. Finally after three supporting acts, the moment that everyone had waited for finally came, Lower Than Atlantis eased themselves onto the LCR stage, kicking off their set with Had Enough. They started with 100% energy, put on an awesome show which certainly didn't short change the audience in any way whatsoever, front man Mike Duce even popping up in the crowd for a track, and to top that treat off they also did a decent encore wrapping the set up with 1000000% percent energy.
