Missy Malone's Burlesque Revue

Sometimes a lady just wants to go and see something glamorous, funny and clever on a Saturday night, and Missy Malone's Burlesque Revue: the Halloween Spooktacular never disappoints. This year's show, packed with talent and sequins gave me just what I was craving, with bells on.

In the packed auditorium the punters were well dressed and hugely enthusiastic right from the word go, with whoops and catcalls as soon as host Asher Treleaven took to the stage. Drily funny and debonair he carried the show beautifully throughout, highlights being his own diablo show, with versions for both men and women, and his reading of an excerpt from a Mills and Boon which had us all in stitches.

We oooh'd, ahhh'd, laughed and admired burlesque artists Kitten DeVille, all the way from the States, who wowed us with two performances in red glitter and a witch's hat, Missy Malone herself with two amazing sets including her El Diablo, with horns and a red cape demonstrating her arse-istry to the max, plus Gypsy Wood from Australia, who did not only a beautiful burlesque performance with blue fans but also a very funny cowgirl act using extra chewy chewing gum which she ended up skipping with. Incredible.

We egged on the saucy Diva Hollywood, a lady pirate in a huge yellow wig and sparkling codpiece as she invited a member of the sudience to hold flags and a treasure map whilst she whipped them into bits. The Great Voltini and Nurse Elektra entertained us with some ace electric magic, including lighting a flare with a nipple, and that doesn't happen every day.

We left the show still laughing and in awe at the mad skills we'd witnessed, and everyone around us was doing the same. All hail Missy Malone and her chums - come back soon and seduce us with your feel-good, all inclusive night of sensual sauce and excellent entertainment.
