Peach Club

Katie Revell. Amanda MacKinnon. Rebecca Wren. Charlie Hart. With two tracks released last December, a cassette version out this month and more releases and gigs promised, 2017 looks like being a noisy blinder for Peach Club.

WHO

For two years Peach Club have peppered us with memorable tracks like My Best Friend and Equivocator. Like all the best bands they started as a couple of friends and as others joined or left they fell upon that final lucky combination of four people all committed to working together to make great Riot Grrrl music.

WHAT

Tight, strong riffs, memorable songs. Punk in spirit and sound, with tracks you end up singing. But it all starts with the lyrics - this is a band with something to say as they play. “We want to be as honest as possible,” Charlie told us. “We do have lots of discussions and those do end up in our lyrics.” Listening to the words in a Peach Club song does make you feel like you have joined in a conversation the band have been having about life today and the issues they face. They may be political but this is a band that talks with you not at you. “We want to be inclusive and understanding of others. We may be four white girls but we are keen to listen and learn about others experiences and include these in our music too.” Once the words are agreed, the music starts with a trip by Amanda and Charlie to Katie’s to write. “Sometimes I come up with a riff and bring it along,” said Charlie, “but if it sounds more like Muse than Peach Club they soon tell me!”

LIVE

Peach Club have a great stage presence and the different personalities they have off stage, shine just as much on. They clearly like hitting the audience with loud fast music and the audiences respond back. “It’s important that people enjoy what we do and get off on the energy of it all,” said Charlie. “We’ve been at gigs where girls in particular have come and told us they like our sound and want to do what we are doing. That gives us all an extra drive to carry on.”

FUTURE

The good news is that the band have loads more songs ready to go, and this year they are going to drip feed them out to us as recorded releases. Gigs in London and playing with Skinny Girl Diet at the Norwich Arts Centre were definite 2016 highlights for them. There is a remix on the cards, they are using their own artwork to match their musical style – all of which shows a Peach Club growing before our very eyes.
