Anyone who spends any time in or around the UK DIY scene will surely be aware of Welsh punkthrashcore heroes Pizzatramp. Combining UK streetpunk with classic NY and DC hardcore and a metallic edge, theirs is a fearsome sound and, well, it won’t be for everyone.
In the words of guitarist/shouter Jim, this LP tackles “Scientology, the dangers of taking pills on school nights, the stupidity of white racist scum, the systematic destruction of the NHS, the mindless hell of working rubbish jobs and a load of songs about hangovers, comedowns and drinking”. Heavy stuff, indeed, but despatched with unexpected wit and humour. Hell, in Millions of Dead Goths there is even a song about climate change that bemoans its effect on, well, goths (kind of).
On first impressions, Pizzatramp are one of those bands that play at a billion miles an hour with no finesse or sense of melody. That impression is wrong. Subtle this ain’t but, underneath it all, there is more to this than just raw noise. For those partial to the faster, more extreme ends of the punk and metal spectrums, this will be invigorating, exciting and wholly thrilling. And yeah, I bloody love it.
