It’s always exciting to come across new talent and Pretty Ace are certainly that. Four sisters from Emneth out on the county border with an exciting fresh indie Pop sound. Keira, 14 on drums, Montana, 16 the bassist, Tyeshia, 17 singer and guitarist and finally Martine, 19 on lead guitar. The girls have been making music together for 5 years, when Keira was just 9, and haven’t stopped since.
They may be young but they have already played some of the area’s big venues like The Fiver at the Cambridge Junction. That’s a dedicated night for new young bands and by all accounts they blasted out a great set. In the City they have played The Owl Sanctuary and a Sonic Youths’ session at the Norwich Arts Centre.
So far so good with the live stuff, now on to releases and Pretty Ace have scored highly here too. They have just released their debut EP Here and Now, recorded at Grange Farm studios near their home village. I Wanna Be Your Lover, Someday and Lights In The City all found their way onto our show as quick as they were sent to us and Alright Mama was chosen to play out on Radio Norfolk’s Stephen Bumfrey show as our Record of The Week. That’s some mileage for a new act.
With the band being four sisters you can guess there’s a lot of family support behind them. Dad’s building them a music room in the garage to practise. And if you think you can hear a bit of The Vaccines in them, that will be from their Uncle who apparently plays them all the time!
They tell us that the best is yet to come and promise newly penned song Kiss Me is their strongest yet. You can judge for yourself by catching them live in Norwich on our BBC Music Introducing in Norfolk stage as part of the Lord Mayor’s Weekend. If you can’t wait till then, grab a copy of the new EP
