Add to calendarWe are pleased to welcome one of Germany’s most distinguished orchestras, the Stuttgart Philharmonic, to Norwich.
The Stuttgart Philharmonic are delighted to have as our soloist the brilliant young pianist Jeneba Kanneh-Mason, whose family have made such a splash in British music over the last few years. She will perform one of Mozart’s most dramatic piano concertos, his 20th Concerto in D minor which will be preceded by Mendelssohn’s ever popular Hebrides Overture. In the second half the outstanding Argentinian conductor Mariano Chiacchiarini will conduct the orchestra in Brahms’ most lyrical symphony, his Symphony No. 3 which incidentally was Edwards Elgar’s favourite symphony.
Conductor: Mariano Chiacchiarini Soloist: Jeneba Kanneh-Mason (piano)
Programme: Mendelssohn – Hebrides Overture (Fingal’s Cave) Mozart – Piano Concerto No. 20 in D minor KV466 – Interval – Brahms – Symphony No. 3
Running time: 1 hour 50 minutes approx with interval
Recognized by critics worldwide with the ECHO Music Prize, the German Record Critics’ Award, and the KONEX Prize in Music, Mariano began his international career by winning the 1st prize at the Teatro Colón Conducting Competition. This led to collaborations with the most prominent conductors of today, such as Sir S. Rattle, P. Boulez, P. Eötvös, R. Chailly, R. Muti, and B. Haitink; and to work with the most renowned orchestras and ensembles, including the Hong Kong Phil, Filarmonica della Scala, Orchestra della Svizzera Italiana, Russian State Orchestra, Philharmonique de Radio France, WDR Sinfonieorchester, German Radio Phil, Gulbenkian Orquestra and the Stuttgarter Philharmoniker.
