Bands Night

On Friday 7th December, Outline, in partnership with the Norfolk and Norwich Volunteer Service (NVS) put on the first Bands Night at EPIC, the TV studio and red-hot new Norwich venue. The aim was simple; to showcase some of the most well respected and admired local talent in a new and exciting format. Did we achieve it? Well, you’d have to ask the throngs of delighted gig goers that left the night feeling invigorated by the assault of talent and technology they’d been subjected to that evening.

Karen 'Neutrino' and compere Lenore

Everyone was agreed that main ingredient of the night, the three bands, The Neutrinos, Def Tex and RayBrower were undeniably heavyweight in musical stakes. With the three bands set up on just 2 stages, going from one band to another in a Jools Holland-esque format, one of the highlights of the evening had to be when the two rock forces of Ray Brower and Neutrinos came together. With Karen Neutrino and Jay Brower teasingly locking eyes and belting out one track for an enraptured audience, the energy of the night only proved to escalate.

The night was glamorously compered by Rockworld TV's Lenore, who was as class an act as the bands she was introducing. Her first band to name check of the night were RayBrower, who were the perfect start to the evening; engaging and fierce. The Neutrinos were scintillating with every beat; playing songs from their album, “One Way Kiss”, it is easy to see why Artrocker describe them as “never less than attention grabbing”. Karen has the presence, energy and edgy demeanour of the greatest rock front women to exist both past and present; her star quality emanates light greater than the amassed studio lights could ever try to. The greatest jewel in the Norwich Hip Hop crown, Def Tex, graced the intimate stage last and showed why their name has travelled and been proffered on the underground hip hop scene way beyond the A47. For a predominantly rock focused show, the transition was seamless
