City of Ale 2014

For the city that once boasted a pub for every day of the year, it seems only natural that Norwich should be celebrated nationally and internationally as the City of Ale.

This was the aim of a group of people who got behind the idea of the City of Ale, putting a well deserved spotlight on the city's pubs, encouraging collaboration between the city's pubs and breweries, and putting on events to further the cause.

The main event in the City of Ale calendar is the yearly festival, which saw its debut in 2011. This year, City of Ale runs for its third year with a 10 day festival from May 22nd til June 1st celebrating all that's good about the thriving East Anglian brewers - not to mention some of the most engaging pubs in the city.

Enjoy the individual charter of establishments like The Rumsey Wells, the independent pub-based brewing of drinking holes such as the Fat Cat - now with 3 cats around the city - and discover a new favourite local within the city walls and beyond.
