DMA’S opened their ‘How Many Dreams?’ tour at a blistering pace in Cambridge

The air is filled with excitement and unbridled joy as the lights go down and our dynamic trio take the stage, they are high on the fact that their album is flying in the charts and there’s a real look of determination on their faces. You instantly know you’re in for a real treat.

Opening with the title track of the new album, the 90s fused influences with modern dance beats gets the youthful Cambridge crowd moving instantly.

Already a sure fire hit with the fans, ‘How Many Dreams?’ hits the ceiling and bounces back at us with a rage. It’s glorious and everyone in the room knows it.

With four albums worth of music to call upon we get a brilliant selection of songs. ‘The Glow’ happens to be one of my favourites and hearing it live really brings how just how incredible it is, Matt Mason’s guitar playing creates a unique wall of sound, lifting the song higher and higher.

‘Fading Like A Picture’ was written to be a sing-a-long anthem and the crowd duly oblige, vocals synchronised as one, singer Tommy nods and smiles wistfully, he knows he’s written an anthem for the ages. Breathe the love in mate, you deserve it.

‘Tape Deck Sick’ from their second album ‘For Now’ is another anthem, arms are in the air as is all the love for our Aussie brethren’s. An acoustic rendition of ‘Forever’ also brings the house down, there’s a real camaraderie between band and audience, something DMA’S gigs have always been built on but somehow it now feels even bigger.

The encore ends with two of the best songs you’ll ever hear. ‘Lay Down’ is a proper alt-90s hit, bripop inspired but so much bigger and then you have THE song of the night ‘Silver’ the chorus’
How do I redefine all my love for you?
I guess I look to the sun with you
Look to the sun with you, yeah’ is sung by absolutely everyone in the room, even the security are singing along, it’s absolutely joyous.

I’ve seen thousands of bands live since I first started going to gigs way back when and it’s safe to say that DMA’S are up there amongst the best in the land.

‘Did you feel like heaven?’ I absolutely did.
