Gentleman's Dub Club
Following the release of their new album Dubtopia on the 7th of April, GDC arrived in Norwich having already been on the road promoting the tour since February. Any signs of tiredness or fatigue were nowhere to be seen as the boys took the stage suited and booted, opening with Music Is The Girl I love. Whilst GDC never fail to bring such copious amounts of energy to their shows, they also bring a sense of community and positivity that leaves everybody with a beaming smile on their face, and has you dancing until you’re a sweaty mess.
Standout tracks included Emergency, Dancing In The Breeze, Let a Little Love and of course High Grade. The set closer Fire whipped Open into a complete frenzy, featuring many attempts of a recreation of the 2012 stage invasion, which resulted in nearly the whole crowd dancing on the stage. However, Open’s staff clearly remembered it as only one person broke through the doubled up security.
The only criticism of the night was on my part - I should have kept vigilant at all times. Because after all, there really is nothing quite as disgusting as a sweaty dreadlock slapping you in the face.
