Everyone has a mate that’s a bit like one of them so we can all relate. And if you are there thinking “I don’t” – it’s you!
The boys are off to Malaga for booze, birds, and… no, that’s pretty much it, really. Just like the series, that’s not funny – what’s funny is what happens when they try and then predictably fail to produce results.
“Just like the series” is a phrase that fits this film in almost every way. I’ve spoken to people whose one criticism was that it was too much “just like the series”. I, however, disagree. “It was just like an hour and a half episode of the Inbetweeners”, I heard people moaning, and they’re right, it is – thank God! Don’t you remember how Kevin and Perry died on the beach? What about Mr. Bean? And how can we forget the Simpsons incident?! No, no, NO! The reason you have been able to grace the silver screen is because of your previous success, and I’m a firm believer in ‘if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.’
So yes, essentially four boys from a middle class background do what they’ve always done. They come up with spectacularly offensive ways to get into trouble, hideously embarrassing ways to NOT get laid, and there’s even the good old fashioned poo gag in there as well. Brilliant!
