Interview with Lily the Pink
Introducing 20 year old Lily Watts, aka LilythePink, Breakbeat Dex Factor Champion.
When you first heard about the Dex Factor – what did you feel your chances were of actually winning it?
I didn’t think I would get as far as I did. I’m confident in what I do, but didn’t picture myself winning it. I did it for experience. I had nothing to lose by handing in a mix CD, so I gave it a go and am over the moon with how I did.
DJ Name – where did this come from?
There are two reasons why I call myself LilythePink; it’s a song my parents used to play to me when I was little by a group called Scaffold. It goes “well drink a drink a drink to lily the pink the pink the pink!” The second reason is that pink’s my favourite colour; a year or so ago it was the only colour i would wear… ever, and I had long pink hair extensions, I miss them!
