Kerrang Tour 2014 ft. Limp Bizkit - UEA, 17.02.14
If you fall into the category of being on the cusp of puberty or not quite being a fully fledged adult as the previous Millennium, you’ll remember the L.I.M.P Bizkit.
This year marks the twentieth anniversary of a twenty-four year old Jacksonville-raised William Frederick Durst laying down his tattoo gun and saying, “no more; I shall be a lead vocalist for a nu-metal group called Limp Bizkit and in this new Millennium we shall take over the world!” It's unknown if an evil laugh followed, or if a beard was in place at that point for villainous stroking. Well this year they hit sold out stages once more in the UK, after their brief worldwide domination fourteen years ago, as they headline the Kerrang Tour.
But first, Baby Godzilla who kicked the night off earlier than expected, rocked all over the stage but still left it in one piece; Nekrogoblikon were the goblin meat in the metal sandwich being served up for the night and of course had their trusty green-faced, suited and booted goblin in tow, and then Japanese rave-metallers Crossfaith exploded on the stage leaving the pit and crowd in a frenzy for Fred and the now-four-piece Limp Bizkit. Wes Borland gently took the hands of the entirely captive crowd in a spotlight, ukulele in… other hand, The Cowboy Song’ on his fingertips and lips as a ghostly faced and trouserless 1920s dandy. Just as the crowd were lured in, the rest of Limp Bizkit hit the stage. With Fred making the final grand appearance and bringing the crowd right back in to frenzy mode with ‘Welcome To The Jungle’, ‘Rollin’’ and ‘Faith’. For the next hour the bearded Durst, alongside his Limp Bizkiting cohorts belted out all the classics and greats known, along with some other greats for an awesome night of reliving your youth and getting sweaty was had by all. As if this was the highlight though? Oh no, deep pocketed fans even had the chance to attend a ‘Meet & Greet’ with the Limp Bizkit posse after the show, to say hi, swop phone numbers and become Facebook friends. Limp Bizkit are back and will take over the world again with new album ‘Stampede of the Disco Elephants’ …keep your ear to the ground. 7/10 Nawaza
