Print to the People

Since Andy Warhol immortalised Marilyn Monroe’s image in garish selections of C, M, Y and K colours, screen printing has remained a mechanism for striking pop art, and snapshots of culture. As printing techniques have advanced and technology takes the task out of our hands, the romance we feel for screen printing has not diminished, or been replaced.

With a taut frame of woven mesh, a stencil and a roller, iconic images have been formed. Champions of the artform in Norwich are Print to the People, run by Jo Stafford and Vicki Johnson. Based at Stew Studios, they use the Stew Print Rooms to welcome the public in to print workshops and team building sessions. Recently they opened their doors, and shared the fruits of their minds with Click Design, a Norwich design agency, who after a team building creative day at Stew, put weight behind their ideas and screenprinted a set of posters that were sold off for charity following an exhibition at NUCA.
