If you want a night of tapping your feet and clapping your hands to some of the best music from the 50s and 60s, this is it!

Rave On performed at Norwich Theatre Playhouse last night to a full audience. Opening with C’mon Everybody, energy levels were set high from the start. The band featured: Chris Weeks on vocals and guitar, Denver Cuss on vocals, Dan Criscuolo on electric guitar, Joe Butcher on upright bass, Rob Gathercole on keys and vocals and, Mike Keane on drums.
From the posters behind the band of 50s and 60s stars like Marilyn Monroe, Chuck Berry, Aretha Franklin and more to the mic choices and even their glass bottles of water, it felt the Playhouse was transported back to the era. Especially, the groups’ costumes helped with the 50s mood. All were wearing colourful polos and shirts along with smart trousers. Later, in act 2 they all changed to suits similar to the early days of The Beatles.
The energy from the group never waived for the whole show. Mr Butcher was particularly mesmerising from spinning his bass to even playing it upside down. If the music didn’t blow you away, their performance did. As well, Mr Gathercole not only played incredibly on the keys and even stood on the seat to play at one point, but he also had a very powerful voice during Real Wild Child.
The group went on to perform some great hits throughout the decades including Blue Suede Shoes, Johnny B Goode, and Surfin’ USA to name a few. Between songs they all told a bit of history and a story introducing the songs making you feel more passion and understanding for each song.
Towards the end of the show, the majority of the audience was on their feet or in the aisle dancing and clapping. Rave On’s electric performance is a true love letter to the defining era of music and an incredible evening out.
