Saint Raymond
The Nottingham hailing indie-pop artist Saint Raymond, also known as Callum Burrows, is back having had a string of recent releases over the past year. He set out on a massive UK tour stopping in all sorts of overlooked nooks and crannies of cities, including an opening night at Open in Norwich.
The night kicked off with a run of fan favourites, “Young Blood”, “Everything She Wants” and “I Want You”, all embodying a fist-pumping euphoria that went down a treat. Having not toured for a few years, the dedicated fans were out in full force belting along to the chirpy tunes.
This enigmatic energy flowed throughout the entire show as the room jived and bounced along to the blaring riffs and pounding drums.
New material “Nightcrawling” and “Dancing” fizzled with swirling riffs and head-bangable choruses. And “Fall at Your Feet” provided a phenomenal finale before the encore.
Callum and his band returned to the stage for a few more treats in store. “Movie In My Mind” evoked a tangible nostalgia, taking things down a notch from the busy and vigorous set. They left the night on a high with the enthralling melody of “Bonfires”, the impactful “Woah!”s excitedly echoed by the room.
Saint Raymond is an artist that excels in a live setting, with tunes that really come together and gel impressively on stage. Callum’s fans are clearly happy for him to be back, and from tonight likely itching to get to another live show ASAP.
