The Brownies

by Outline

The Brownies formed in March 2006 as the current line-up after meeting one day by chance outside Topshop. We recorded our first EP at the Sickroom studios in Norfolk, mid 2006. This proved to be a step in the right direction and we became a band that could start to stand alone in the Norwich music scene. Practising every week and constantly writing new songs, we continued to improve, maintain and develop our sound, forming comparisons such as Gang of Four.

Having just recorded a brand new EP at purple studios, we are now well-established in the local Scene and are determined to go that step further. With gigs coming up at the Art Centre, around Norwich and some in York and London the buzz surrounding us makes us un-missable live. After recently spending a day at Maida Vale as part of a BBC Introducing… programme, we are now concentrating on our album which is going to be released this summer with Norwich label NROneRecords, which we will be touring later on in the year.

"The Brownies are a fresh new genre-fusing five-piece indie/alternative band from Norwich. With comparisons to Pretty Girls Make Graves and vocals reminiscent of Siouxsie Sioux they are not to be missed" - NAC

"The Brownies sound is full of energy with 'Don't give a fuck' vocals that float over the distorted guitars. In short, I like it!" - Whizz Bang Records
