The Hunger Games - Mockingjay Part II
These films have gone from strength to strength.
It’s time for the final part of the final part of the final book of the Hunger Games – finally! Well, before we get stuck in, let’s whet our appetites with a Hunger Games ketchup, sorry catch up. Geddit? Hunger! Never mind…
First, Katniss and Peeta were forced to play the game, which they won by both deciding not to play, (but after winning really, though). Then, after becoming part Brangelina, part Ghandi, they’re forced to enter again, however this time they go all ‘don’t hate the player, hate the game’, and shut that shit down for good.
That’s actually it for the Games themselves, which from this point in the series have precisely nothing to do with what happens next, meaning that calling it ‘the Hunger Games series’ is a bit like calling the Lord of the Rings movies, ‘the Breakfast with Frodo trilogy’. Anyway, due to J-Law going all Che Guevara, District 12 (basically the Great Yarmouth of Panem) gets burnt to fuck by President Snow (give it up for Donald Sutherland) who is pissed off because, well, he’s a massive shit and always has been.
This brings us to Mockingjay Part 1. The baddies have Peeta, and he’s now on TV, but the goodies have a new leader - and it’s only Julianne Fucking Moore! She lives next door in District 13, where Katniss agrees to be a symbol of hope and rebellion, but mostly just hides in an underground silo with Thor’s brother and Tits McGee (Game of Thrones) – talk about a bunker bunker burning love!
So, what will happen next? Honestly, I don’t know. If you want spoilers, read the books. What I do know is that, in the words of Cypress Hill, “When the shit goes down, you better get ready.” And war is coming. It’s not going to be pretty, and people are going to die. Also, what I can tell you is that I’m actually excited to find out. These films have gone from strength to strength. Sure, the first one was a bit Funhouse meets the Running Man, but due to some great acting, stylish direction and good script writing, I’m invested in the fight. And, cinematically speaking, that’s the real battle already won.
