The Hunna
I feel The Hunna are a band I could see again and again and never get bored, they brought so much life and fun to Norwich and don’t take anything they do for granted- they are top role models for new artists in the industry.
The Hunna exceeded my expectations at the Waterfront on Friday night; their energy was off the charts and their stage presence was unforgettable.
If head-banging becomes a trend again it’s down to musicians like The Hunna. They embodied what live bands should sound like with their commitment to putting on a great performance as well as their talent.
In the first half of their set the four piece played their new, upcoming album (out on the 28th October). Usually I’d think playing an unreleased album is a lot of new material for a headline tour: I mean who wants to go to a gig and not hear the classics?
Turns out The Hunna make it work.
Considering no one had heard the majority of the songs before, everyone was mesmerised by the new tracks. All of which I am counting down the days to hear from their self-titled album in the coming days.
Lead singer Ryan was buzzing for the album release date, and took us on a flashback when he was younger and obsessed with Busted. He said how he would spend ages in the mirror trying to perfect the early 2000’s indie hair, and would air guitar to his heart's content trying to imitate Busted’s front man, Charlie Simpson. The story had relevance in the end as Simpson is featured on one of their new songs and The Hunna couldn’t be more thrilled. It’s clear it’s a real ‘we’ve made it’ moment for them.
A highlight was the crowd singing the entirety of the first verse to ‘She’s Casual’. A moment I’d imagine the band will never get sick of whilst on tour. The multiple stage dives brought an extra element of entertainment that continued to show the musicians genuine love and appreciation for what they do.
