Tom Grennan
Everyone’s favourite cheeky-chap singer-songwriter Tom Grennan, packed out a sold-out LCR. The 23-year-old from has had stellar success this year with a top selling debut album and becoming a popular staple festival act.
Tom opened on a stripped back note, bearing an acoustic guitar. The tempo quickly picked up, with Royal Heigness emblazoning the room. With swanky backing singers, pounding drums and a jiveable chorus, Tom shook up the building. Throughout his performance, the instrumental elements combined with his roaring vocal talents emitted an impressive grandeur.
It made it feel like a far larger and epic setting than the cramped LCR. Tom showed passion for performing live, becoming a lad-rock showman. He lapped up attention as he encouraged fans to dance and sing along, spinning and grooving across the stage.
The show wasn’t without its’ calmer moments, with ballads I Might and Lucky Ones giving those lighter in the air swayable anthems. Tom’s spine-chilling vocal capabilities stood out, as he held notes stunningly.
The biggest hit of the night Found What I’ve Been Looking For encapsulated fists in the air euphoria, fans echoing the ear-worm of a melody with tremendous “WOAAHHHHH”-ing.
After promising to return once more to Norwich, Tom delivered a passion fueled encore with a stripped back rendition of his tune with Chase and Status, All Goes Wrong. His distinctive raspy vocals echoed through the room. Something in the Water sent shivers down revelers spine, and Run in the Rain was an appropriately anthemic finale.
With his ability to connect with audiences and infectious enthusiasm for being on stage, there is potential for longevity and bigger things to come for him.
