Add to calendarBorn from a half‑serious beer‑fuelled joke in 2006, Liqueur quickly evolved from “food‑themed Cure parodies” into a full‑blooded tribute determined to capture the real sound, look and atmosphere of The Cure. The name stuck, the curry references didn’t. Mark, Daz and Chris — veterans of the Norfolk scene and former members of mid‑90s Britpop outfit Betty Ford— regrouped in 2007 to form what would become one of the UK’s longest‑running and most authentic Cure tributes.
Early gigs on the North Norfolk coast set the tone, and by 2008 the line‑up expanded with Gary, later settling into the now‑classic five‑piece with Si joining in 2013. For nearly 20 years, Liqueur have performed across Britain, from packed clubs to major tribute festivals, earning a reputation for uncanny accuracy and electric, immersive shows. Fans regularly travel the country to see them, and comments like “You sound more like The Cure than The Cure” have become part of the band’s folklore.
What sets Liqueur apart is devotion: lifelong Cure fans who obsess over the details — the gear, the tones, the mood, the aesthetic. Onstage, they don’t just play the songs. They become The Cure, giving audiences the closest thing to the real thing you’ll find outside of Robert, Simon and co.
