Add to calendar+ Trout + Milvain Join Phoebe Troup, her five-piece band and special guests to celebrate the release of Glued into the room. Glued into the room is the second album by the British-American artist Phoebe Troup,a singer-songwriter and producer from Colorado, US. The record was born in pockets of spare time and space, in days off between touring and recording as a bassist and vocalist, across two small studios in Norwich, UK.
Produced by Troup, mixed by David Pye (Szun Waves, Shaking Hand, Trudy and the Romance) and mastered by Eric James (Domenique Dumont, Luke Abott, Nightports), Glued is clear and close, steeped in warmth, warp and DIY intimacy. The record features band members Kyle Gregg on bass (Undine, Spider on the phone) and Poppy Hanton on electric guitar (Glued into the room, Spider on the phone), folk musician and producer Tom Oscar Moore on Violin and Viola da Gamba (Looking at art), and Emma Tovell on pedal steel guitar (Flowers in the dark). Worked from scraps of lyrics and voicenotes collected on the road, Glued into the room is a 10-track rumination, drawing a perpetual circle around grief & yearning, solidarity & friendship, technology & landscape, nostalgia & myth.
Songs span alt-folk, rock, and art-pop, maintaining a sonic and thematic cohesion that draws from encounters with earth and art. Building from her self-released 2023 debut Middlenite, Troup ties an other-worldly sense of place from lyrics through to production. Sounds of crunching apples, rattling seashells and flintstones mix with wavering, saturated strumming, soft synths and airy vocal layering.
This is a record that offers up real, honest loss, and Troup moves sweetly through the enigmas of her earlier work to reach gritty points of no return: a seagull smashing a clam against a rock, a childhood memory of a dog bite, a loved one at the end of their life, a rabbit under wheels. Since the 2023 self-release of Middlenite, Phoebe has been supported by Soho Radio London, BBC Radio 6 Music, and BBC Introducing. She has toured venues and festivals across the UK with her five-piece band, and continues to write and experiment, taking inspiration from work that feels at once of the future and the past; Cat Power, Lomelda, Joanna Sternberg, Cate Le Bon, Salami Rose Joe Louis and Wednesday.”
