Acid Mothers Temple // Epic, 19.08.14

GURRIERS hit the stage hard, playing eighteen songs in 80 minutes.

A slice of joy and hope before we’re launched into the depths of the cold dark winter.

I’ve seen a lot of amazing, life-altering, intimate gigs at Voodoos, but this was by far the best. Theatre is going far, and I think we were lucky to see them in such a small venue.

Oh, my goodness they are so young!

The songs seemed to belong to the audience as much as to the person on stage, but Carter still had enough command of them to make them feel freshly handled rather than preserved behind glass.

This particular festival has been running for some eight years now and just continues to go from strength-to-strength year on year.

It is time for my annual pilgrimage to see STIFF LITTLE FINGERS

Bluesy garage tock ‘n’ roll ‘n’ soul never testified so hard. An enthralling, joyous wall of beautiful sound.

Another evening of quiet, mellow, contemplative music. Or not…

Another excellent evening at the Holloway.

Hardcore that it is as fun as it is intense and cathartic? Yes, please.

A cracking night of post-punky, riot-grrlesque, doomy catharsis.
