Acid Mothers Temple // Epic, 19.08.14

Since 1995 Acid Mothers Temple have been taking punters on a trip with their psychedelic rock. With these extended jams, it is pointless to mention song titles. Nothing will be played the same way twice.

Band leader Tabata Mitsuru and Kawabata Makoto provide searing, psyche guitar. The band is driven by the rhythm section of bassist Tsuyama Atsushi and distinctly motorik drummer Shimura Koji. Stage centre, Higashi Hiroshi plays idiosyncratic synth. (9/10)

Support act BK & Dad grow in strength with every performance. Tonight’s jarring, looped guitar and crashing drums mix industrial with no wave and shoegaze to produce an enthralling, entertaining noise. (9/10)
