Albert Lee & Hogan's Heroes // Norwich Arts Centre - 16.04.10

Serenading rows of twinkly eyed admirers, Albert Lee and Hogan's Heroes (some of the best known and most respected Rock & Roll and Country musicians in the country) transcended any previously formed generalisations about country rock: I have been converted.

Floating from heartbreaking nostalgic renditions of country love songs ('Till I Gain Control' and 'I'll Never Get Over You')  to the stuff serious achy-breaky dance dreams are made of  ('Barnyard Boogie' and 'Two Step Too'), these guys humbly delivered the easy plucky attitude and charm only veterans in the game of rock can display.

At times, as Albert looked towards the roof, it was though he had received some kind of divine inspiration, before confirming why Eric Clapton accolades him with the title as the greatest guitarist in the world, launching into shaking classics such as 'Leave My Woman Alone' and 'Country Boy'.

Lee may indeed be a country boy at heart but as far as I'm concerned he's the King of the nimble fingers. Albert Lee and Hogan's Hero's can be depended on to tear-it-up for an old-fashioned clap-happy chicken pickin' awe-inspiring night: the band continue to tour relentlessly.
