Daisy Victoria - Nobody Dies EP
A truly complex talent whose fame is already set to spread beyond our Norfolk borders.
Favourable comparisons to PJ Harvey, Kate Bush and Anna Calvi will rarely harm a new artist's prospects, but ultimately it is their own musical output by which they will be judged. Daisy Victoria's first EP, 'Heart Full of Beef' already had critics lining up to heap praise on her songwriting, voice and guitar style. Now 'Nobody Dies' is set to have them salivating once again with a second course of elemental pop - five compositions that individually paint stories of hope and fear, collectively questioning our existence, our past and our future.
The title track is driven forwards by a combination of railroad drumming and cadencing synth lines whilst Daisy's voice sweeps and soars. 'Blue Arc' takes us on a cosmic psychedelic ride with gutsy guitar jarring against ethereal vocals, whilst 'Ammonite' assumes a gothic moodiness with cathedral keyboards and volcanic rumblings. Light and dark is contrasted by an industrial pounding and fuzzy distortion to dramatic effect in 'Coals' before the EP closes with the Tibetan bells and the stompy aspirations of 'Another Sky'.
A truly complex talent whose fame is already set to spread beyond our Norfolk borders. Don't get left behind on this one.
