Ellie Goulding -Delirium

From the operatic introduction of the title track to the climactic conclusion of Scream it Out this is, in so many ways, an absolutely huge album. Poised to wrestle the crown of pop from the platinum pate of the Swift One, Ellie Goulding has, at a stroke, unleashed an album of glorious feelgood anthems that sound fantastic anywhere. This is a mood-lifter that cuts right across the boundaries of age, gender and sexuality, inspiring hope and confidence to all who are in love, have loved, or want to be loved.

Confounding those who were simply expecting an over-produced collaboration-filled extravaganza, Delirium is a beautifully crafted package that promises to become a remixer's dream, yet in its raw state manages to plug away at the dopamine and serotonin receptors with hooks and lyrics that resolutely strike a chord within everyone's heart.

From the mid-tempo march of Keep On Dancing to the defiance of Don't Need Nobody, there is never a moment of despair or negativity to be found. Around U is possibly the weakest track, veering at times towards S Club territory, but balance that against the Kate Bush flourishes in Something In The Way You Move, and you have a modern pop classic.

Even the man on the moon will be returning his telescope and buying this instead.
