EAT. SLEEP. RAVE. REPEAT. EAT. SLEEP. RAVE. REPEAT. EAT. SLEEP. RAVE. REPEAT....
Some fairly solid life advice broadcast out into the magical forest of Thetford. The one and only Fatboy Slim- graced us country folk with his awesome presence and an absolute corker of a set last night at Forest Live. The sexy 60 something was dressed in a black shirt covered in daisies , undone to the 4th button, looking energised and effortlessly cool as ever.
He played a euphoric mixture of 90's house classics melted in with his iconic remixes those tracks we all know and love. Gangster Trippin, Praise You and Weapon of Choice amongst other favourites were accompanied by the most exceptional visuals. The audience was taken on a journey through every single track; the melody, the build up and the infamous drop alongside imagery of classic 90's acid smiley, lazer beams and the rainbow light spectrum of all colours which left me pretty awstruck.
The crowd danced, jumped, raved, hugged each other, swayed and clapped along to the entire set- start to finish- I for one did not stop moving! The entire playing was awash with bangers, catchy hooks, singalong moments and opportunity to just lose yourself in the moment.
I particularly enjoyed the big screen announcement he projected at the beginning encouraging people to put their phones away and just stay present and unite in the experience. This helped to create a throw back feeling to the 90's dance and race scene Fayboy Slim heralded from. Minimal technology, just music, magic and love for one and other.
The set closed with further advice- political in its essence and poignant given the current climate of hate fuelled rhetoric in the media:
Drop Acid Not Bombs...
Only Love Can Conquer Hate...
The perfect way to begin the weekend in a heatwave partying in the forest, feeling free, feeling the love and holding on to hope for a bright future.
