FEM.ALE @ The Plasterers

We enjoy a Hophead from Brewsters Brewery

FEM.ALE @ The Plasterers

Beer is great, I think we can all agree. People who make interesting beers are pretty great too. The Plasterers Pub certainly seems to think so, as they keep having ‘meet the brewers’ nights and theme festivals on anything unique and hoppy. FEM.ALE is one such festival and, as the title suggests, celebrates women in the brewing industry. Good stuff. I joined the party for it’s final evening, as the pub’s usual movie night got a girly, craft-beery twist. They were showing The Craft (remember that nineties movie where the teen witches go a bit nuts? Kick’s Twilight’s arse).  At the bar my eye was drawn immediately to the Brewsters pump clip with its Art Nouveau stylings. Hophead was a deliciously light pale ale at 3.6%, refreshing and way too drinkable. It was the colour of summer and the hoppy nature of the brew meant it was right up my street. I may have enjoyed a few before even looking at the festival menu. Even though I was the only person to actually get dressed up for the occasion (as crazy headwitch Nancy, natch) it was the perfect excuse to try new beers and support minority brewers. What’s more awesome than ladies that drink beer? Ladies that make their own.
