Lucy Rose - Something's Changing
Since her 2015 album Work It Out, Lucy Rose has been down a slightly unusual path. While many people go on a volun-tourism trip after they finish college or university, Lucy finished her A-levels and got straight into her career. So, in 2016, she packed her gap year into a two-month Latin American tour with a difference. She offered fans from Ecuador to Mexico, and everywhere in between a unique opportunity; if you wanted Lucy to play in your village (for free), and you could book a venue and give her a place to stay, she’d be there. Three key things came from the trip; a documentary of her experiences, Lucy rekindled her love of music, and this album. With guest appearances from wonderful people such as Daughter’s Elena Tonra, and The Staves (who provide harmonies on first single Floral Dresses) this album is a work of passion. It’s not all acoustic guitar; Soak It Up’s intro is heavily inspired by Pink Floyd, while I Can’t Change It All laments the desperate situations Lucy saw in Latin America. It comes from a position of really loving music, and while Something’s Changing for Lucy Rose, we think it’s a good thing; this is a fantastic album.
