Max Bianco - Harlot Moon
Max Bianco has been around a while now, but despite being a seasoned artist on the live music scene, he is yet to release an album, well until now that is. Harlot Moon is a labour of love, and something he is exceptionally proud of.
Sitting somewhere around the folk spectrum, with a few other genres thrown into the mix for good measure, the album starts off with a lively track, which sets up the rest of the album quite nicely. Now it is glaringly obvious that Max’s vocals sound like a certain Mr Dylan, but without the nasally sound that is predominant in most of his music, thankfully.
Comparisons though, are likely to be inevitable, but that is extremely unfair, as there is a lot more to it than that. The album takes you on a personal journey, and while at times it can sound somewhat nostalgic, overall, musically it has been brought up to date. Think of Woodstock being transported 50 or 60 years forward, and you would be somewhere near it.
Over the course of the album, Max has a lot to say, about society, his own experiences, and a lot more besides, but moreover, the album makes you want to listen. It really is a cracking album, both lyrically and musically, and well worth parting with your pennies for. So, if you are in the market for some electro/acoustic folk with a penchant for story telling (what folk music isn’t though to be fair?), then this will definitely satisfy your cravings and then some.
