True Lies kick things off with fourteen minutes of extreme hardcore, mixing Minor Threat with Napalm Death, vocalist ams screaming his lungs up. This takes me back to the 80s hardcore explosion of my youth but then it would’ve been raining stage divers. (9/10

In the bar, Catnip & Claws and Sohla both serve up electronica, the former mixing Aphex Twin and Fuck Buttons, the latter taking the Burial route. Both produce music that I'd happily listen to through headphones but both leave me a little cold as a live spectacle. (6/10 for both)

Between the electronics, the auditorium sees the debut from Colossus. With twin lead vocals from Sarah and Erica, the sound conjures up Delgados, Fiel Garvie and Francis McGee's post-Vaselines band Suckle. A promising performance from a band that will get better. (6/10

Following a triumphant slot here with Young Fathers back in February, LAW returns. Last time out showcased her deep and soulful voice over an intense, industrial backing. Tonight, the vocals remain as soulful but the music is less harsh, more uplifting and, perhaps, all the better for it. (8/10)

Well done Rosie for a great night, looking forward to the next one.
