Can Rudimental's debut album, 'Home', live up to the previous hit singles the band has produced?
Rudimental are a London four piece who’s debut album; Home, is to be released on April 29th. The bands media attention and hypnotic live shows have earned them some brilliant collaborations, such as Emeli Sande, Angel Haze, and the wonderful up-and-coming Ella Eyre, who is the voice of this album's latest single, 'Waiting All Night'.
The vast range of collaborations means the albums vibe changes relentlessly, expect to be kept on your toes… or to have a little dance… Fitting with its hype, 'Waiting All Night' is definitely one of the best tracks on this album, and lives up to its press. Expect to be dancing to it in a muddy tent and wellies all summer long - I’m sure Ella Eyre will go far but I’d love to hear her collaborate with Rudimental again.
For me, the rather comically named, 'Spoons', takes their electronic dance style a little bit further, and it’s working for them. It’s tracks like this that gives the album so much diversity. I would definitely recommend you give this song a listen, as there’s contrast not only with the rest of the album, but even within the song itself, with the electronic beats and smoother voice of the female collaborator ( Syron).
Overall, this is a tricky album to rate because there’s so much going on, and it’s all so different. Although I’m sure this kind of range of sounds isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, I’d like to think Rudimental will reach out to a wide audience, and I’m sure nearly everyone can find a track they love on an album as diverse as this one.
