Speech Debelle/The Mouse Outfit
No Comply have been hosting a heaped plateful of hip hop in Norwich over the past few weeks including the likes of Amaru Naru, DJ Format and Jehst. This week we have a whole weekend of it, kicking off the festivities Friday night with a UK hip hop hoorah consisting of the beautiful Speech Debelle and Manchester based Mouse Outfit with vocals tonight from Dr Syntax and Sparkz.
First on stage tonight is the female poet and general queen of sass who graced the stage with her band and hit us with some beautifully written words which got the whole crowd moving and prepared for the night ahead.
After fighting through the crowds of beer-spilling bar dwellers I secured my position at the front just in time for the full Mouse Outfit band to enter stage with Dr Syntax and Sparkz in tow. I’ve seen these guys several times before, and it’s always a great party, and unsurprisingly tonight was no different. I was glad to hear all the classics from Escape Music to Step Steadier and everything in between. The crowd was lively, the band were ready and they made sure to thank us for coming out in true Norwich style… jumping around all night long in a lake of sweat, beer and other alcoholic beverages!
It was nice to see them play in Norwich again, it is always a pleasure, and it was nice to see a full band have so much energy on stage with a still exciting setlist in a city they play to so often.
