The Big Moon - Love In The 4th Dimension
Few guitar bands have in recent years created such a ground swell of anticipation ahead of their debut album like London quartet The Big Moon. With support slots accompanying The Maccabees, Ezra Furman, and The Vaccines, as well as their own tours and festival appearances, this celestial outfit has been in the ascendency for the last four years. Now their collection of songs is complete, and available as one guitar-happy package, including no less than five previous singles amongst the eleven tracks. Recorded over twelve days last summer, and co-produced by in-demand studio maestro Catherine Marks (Wolf Alice, Foals), Love In The 4th Dimension arrives at precisely the right moment to continue The Big Moon's trajectory, and to carry us gorgeously through the summer months. The band's intelligent and highly melodic style will remind you of OK Go, Long Blondes and Weezer. Juliette Jackson's voice suggests elements of PJ Harvey and Anna Calvi. And ultra-slick production sets her crystal-clear vocals against wall-of-sound dynamics. These songs are packed so full of hooks, crescendos and climaxes that you entire body will tingle by the time you reach The End. If you only buy one album this summer, buy this one.
