The howtocuredyslexiaband - Teeth

The cover photograph for Teeth (side one) features what appears to be a genuine orthodontic cast from the jaws of David Miller, the artistic force behind The howtocuredyslexiaband. As a long-term ordontophobiac who happens to have also had a dentist as a father, this would probably have been enough for me to instinctively give this mini-album/extended EP a wide berth.

However, having heard these five tracks only once before at a Grapevine set in Norwich last year I was desperate to hear the songs again.

Quirky, semi-comedic, dark, and at times political, Teeth (side one) serves up five slices of brilliance that could have believably been borne of a late night absinthe session with Nick Drake, Viv Stanshall and The Beatles. The rockabilly satire of Submarine passes through Drake-like musings of Magic Exists via a Sgt. Pepper-esque Chrysalis, to the dreamy Woodenhill, before concluding with a laid-back bluesy Saints.
