The Lovely Eggs // Wildlife

Hey, remember Angelica? 90's Riot Grrl group? No? They had a song called Why Did You Let My Kitten Die? No? Well, The Lovely Eggs is fronted by their original singer, Holly Ross, accompanied by her actual husband. They are a hilarious and genius band that YOU NEED TO LISTEN TO. This is their 3rd album in 3 years. They've worked with John Shuttleworth. Jarvis Cocker is doing a documentary about them on Radio Four. Song titles on this album include Green Beans, Please Let Me Come Mooch Round Your House and Don't Patent That Shoe. They play in a surfer rock, punk rock, riot grrrl, indie pop style. If you like Helen Love, Shampoo, Babes in Toyland, The Wedding Present or Super Furry Animals, you will like this. Not only are the 18 often very short tracks each very different in sound, from the punk assault of Scooter's Got Itchy (0.50 seconds long) to the vocally Fleetwood Mac but musically Dinosaur Jnr The Castle at 4 minutes 12. A very intriuging album, and one that really took me back to the mid 90's, but in a good way. Also suitable for indie kids from later generations :)

10/10 Lizz
