Tom Grennan

Tom is like a ball of energy, racing around the stage despite admitting to only have eight hours sleep in five days.

Forest Live, Thetford kicked off the first of four nights with an epic performance by Tom Grennan.
I've only listened to a few of Tom's songs on the radio so this seemed like the perfect opportunity to discover more of his songs
Forest Live is one of my favourite annual events. They are very relaxed and laid back with the ephemeris of the family experience, They are organised like a well-oiled machine. Getting parked was painless and fairly quick.
I had arrived early, slightly worried that I stick out as the oldest one there. However, I was pleasantly surprised as I joined others making the short walk from the car park that the audience was mix of all age groups. Most people had the same idea, to get there early to bag the best spots and enjoy a picnic before the music started. The stage is at the foot of slight incline so everyone gets a good view, the arena is surrounded by food and drink vendors.

Just after 7pm the music started with support acts Liv Dawson and Matilda Mann. They both delivered competent sets and warmed up an eager audience.

The audience had been pretty quiet up to now but as Tom strode on stage there was a massive cheer from the audience. We are straight into If Only. I'm not a super fan but I did recognise Sober, Royal Highness and How Does it Feel. I surprised myself by the number of songs I knew the choruses.

Tom is like a ball of energy, racing around the stage despite admitting to only have eight hours sleep in five days.
During his set Tom declares that it felt like "Christmas Eve" to him as his third album What Ifs & Maybes comes out the next day. The set is a mix of old and new. We are treated to Psychedelic Kisses and Crown your Love from the new album. Tom dominates the stage, his voice is strong and sounds as good as anything he has recorded.
Towards the end of Tom's set he invited three members of the audience on stage to sing Remind Me with him.

The Forest Live events continues until Sunday 18th June.

Forest Live is a major outdoor live music series that introduces forests to new audiences in unique, natural woodland arenas around the country. Over 2 million people have attended a Forest Live gig in the last twenty-two years, enjoying great music and supporting the nation’s forests when buying a ticket. Going to a concert helps Forestry England create beautiful places for people to enjoy, run important conservation projects and keep growing trees. Last year they planted some 6.8 million trees, caring for the nation’s 1,500 woods and forests sustainably and welcoming 363 million visits annually.
