The day is finally here…Isle of Wight’s most of exciting new band have delivered an album that does not fall short of expectations.
Starting with a very abrupt and sudden intro with ‘Being in Love’, the band grabs you straight in what is a high contender for my personal favourite album of the year. their made-for-radio tunes are a guaranteed hit with fans of all ages; I mean we all saw that with ‘Chaise Longue’ right?!
Wet Leg seems to be everyone’s cup of tea or at the very least subject of intrigue, their awkward and tongue in cheek lyrics combined with the catchiest melodies are what’s been missing from the indie rock scene for years. They filled that space so perfectly, as soon as they came on the scene their songs were an instant hit on British radios and they are just starting to scratch the surface in the US!
Wet Leg’s self-titled record contains an array of tunes, some with the same appeal that had everyone fall in love with them immediately, in conjunction with slightly slower songs with deeper messages like ‘Piece of Shit’ that were a surprise but definitely not a bad one!
The Isle of Wight duo have come up with an album that perfectly embodies an accidental rise to success starting from two young women writing songs for fun and ending up with one of the best and most anticipated albums of the year.
Go and give it a listen, you definitely will not regret it.
