Cadillac Three - Legacy

Cadillac Three - Legacy

I’ll lay this out straight from the start. The Cadillac Three do absolutely nothing new or innovative. If you wanna be challenged by mind-bending art-noise, you won’t find it here. Much as I like having my mind bent, much as I love discovering new (and, I’ll admit, sometimes barely listenable) noise, there are times when well-played, heartfelt rock is just what I need and want. And that is exactly what TC3 deliver.

This is southern rock, full of big choruses, bigger guitars and drawled vox. There’s some glorious slide guitar - and, in my world, almost everything sounds better with slide guitar - along with searing solos and a tight-as-hell rhythm section. TC3 owe debts to their southern forebears, be it Lynyrd Skynyrd, Molly Hatchet or the more contemporary likes of Drive-By Truckers. That isn’t the be all and end all, though. There’s a dose of Exile… era Stones, Gram Parsons, Steve Earle and Josh Ritter.

At the end of a shitty week at work, I’ll happily crack open a beer and shout along to Dang If We Didn’t or American Slang or Love Me Like Liquor and two or three beers later, the world is a better place.

See ya down the front at the UEA on 15th November.
