Genius!
Everybody loves a bit of mid-week madness and I am no exception to this rule; so when I found out Mr. Watson would be gracing Norwich for an extra couple of shows (due to his sold out weekend) I was one very happy bunny.
He began on a running machine as the audience found their seats, chatting to everyone and welcoming people to the show whilst getting very short of breath explaining that he had been told that it is a healthy option for people to run to work! Genius! The first half was filled with audience interaction, comic self-deprecation and hysterical social commentary. The discussion around the topic “seasonal drinking” particularly tickled me; “Oh, I do love a winter warmer; “Gosh, there’s nothing like a white wine spritzer to cool you down. Look darling, it’s lambing season! Crack open the gin!” The second half provided exactly what Watson has promised; he would drag us down to a very low, dark place, then bring us all back up to a state of euphoria! I can honestly say that I did not stop laughing the entire way through.
I can’t praise the show enough and I also can’t stop quoting the jokes in my day to day life! Mark Watson’s performance was incredibly honest, totally relatable and just an absolute scream to watch.
