I'm perhaps not the best candidate to review the credentials of a house DJ, as I often think house music is often best heard on a night out rather than in the comforts of your own house (when you actually have time to think about what you're listening to). Even if you love house music, do you really want to get hyped up and frantic just before you empty the rubbish bin or clean the dishes? Maybe some people do and that's a trick I'm missing... but it all seems a little monotonous when nobody else is around (unless of course you have an imaginary best friend and / or chemical imbalance). Anyway aside from my drivel which has absolutely nothing to do with the specifics of this album, for something housey this actually isn't too bad; I would give it a rating of only 5 on the boring scale (10 being particularly boring on par with Coldplay) which I think is a big complement. There are drums. There are synthy squelchy noises. Apparently Martyn is a great DJ so I will take other people's word on that. Perhaps not the most inventive of names (he could in all fairness have picked anything) so try not to equate this with an overall lack of creativity.
6/10 Tommydog
