Revenge of the Psychotronic Man - That Was Just A Noise

This may not be so much a review as a eulogy for – and, perhaps, a love letter to – a fine band. After 14 years of getting pissed, talking shit, dancing like idiots, drinking in the van, beer for breakfast, supporting local venues and colossal velocity, Revenge of the Psychotronic Man will be calling it a day at the end of this year.

Over the years, RPM have delivered a fearsome, feral but FUN racket that blends hardcore dashes of classic punk, Oi and even grindcore. At 27 tracks, this has the band’s best loved songs along with the unreleased, obscure and a gabba remix. There isn’t enough room to mention individual tracks but there isn’t a track here that is less than superb.

Andy, Matt and Big Hands may be playing there last gig together as RPM in December but they will be keeping busy – very busy – with TNSrecords, the Manchester Punk Festival and too many other good things to list. So, give the band the send of it deserves and buy this.

A sad footnote: Tim Gray, a true DIY punk legend who was responsible for much of RPM’s material - and the remix of Beer For Breakfast - passed away just as this LP was due for release. Our thoughts are with Tim G’s friends and family.
