SHE MAKES WAR - AND PEACE
After ten years, four albums and 571 gigs, Laura Kidd is laying She Makes War to rest. Fear not, that does not mean no more music from Laura. The former Tricky, Viv Albertine and Penelopes collaborator will be creating something in the future but whatever that will be is being kept under wraps for now.
This features re-recordings of eight songs chosen by fans from the fifty song-plus back catalogue. Normally, I might question the need for anyone to re-record songs but these are, to quote Laura, stripped-back and intimate versions. Some of the tracks also reflect the growth and evolution that the songs have gone through on the road. The opener Scared To Capsize - my absolute fave SMW song - still has the power to bring tears to my eyes and send shivers up and down my spine. Other highlights are a jaw-dropping take on Delete and the gorgeous In This Boat.
